Great to see your old boy Winker Watson back in training and having another go at the July Cup. His win there in 2007 must have been the greatest day for the Comic Book Heroes and wouldn’t it be terrific to see him do well again? I see he’s running in the colours of the Norman Court Stud but presume you still have an interest so best of luck with him!

Congratulations for a great week for the yard. I’m delighted for Tom that things have clicked after a tough year, last time we saw Tom with Vegas Palace at Windsor he seemed to be pulling his hair out as to why things were not clicking up there. Like you Manor House saved me twice this week in the lucky last at Ascot… Thank God. Yesterday was a washout for me so looking to improve today, looks very difficult again today with the going though….Will Blue Jack appreciate the cut today Bert???

You’re right Harry - I have the intentions to keep it up and be open and honest about my chances beforehand but I’m juggling with so much stuff and I just don’t seem to make the time. I’ll try harder.

Sunday Bess goes later - she’s up against a possibly oustanding horse but she’s lovely and I paid the money to keep her in the Oaks today despite the fact that she’s done next to nothing on the course to date. I’m hoping. Peintre D’Argent tomorrow should go well as well. I’ll write that up.

James,

good spot. Winker is doing fine at stud - he seems to be very fertile and no reported problems - but he’s not getting as many mares as we would like. He was never really right after his 2yo days - he had a knee problem and then he had problems around the fact that he had had to have a lot of box rest. When he went to Norman Court he was suffering from a lot of physical issues but they seem to have all cleared up now and he looks as well as I have ever seen him. The syndicate (I own 25%) wanted to send him racing again to see if he could recapture any of his old form.

I have noticed Winker Watson has an entry fo Kings Stand stakes. Not sure if you are anyway involved in the horse any more but presumably must have had problems at stud.

Van Go Go did it well so you made a good call. Were there any bids for her?
Would be interested to know what you fancy for the Guineas, I am going for an Abdulla double with Frankel and Make A Dance.
Also noted Nick Gifford is running Royal wedding on Friday, think it may be worth an interest.
I see you have a 2yro called Electric Qatar. Do you know when will it make its debut?
