Goodwood day 1
Jul 31st, 2007 by Bert
It’s a glorious day - perhaps summer is finally here. Goodwood starts and I have a early runner.
Major Eazy goes today in the Betfair sponsored Molecomb at 4:00. It’s a pretty decent race - he’ll have to step up on his last run but I give him a respectable chance and he should go well. I’ll have a small bet on him and I’ll also back Captain Gerrard who I think has a lot of scope and has improved throughout the season.
In the Betfair Cup I’ll be having a small bet on Asset, who is good on his best form and may have conditions in his favour. The 4:35 is a good looking race with several nice types running. I’ll go small on Strategic Mount. Paveroc feels like the best option in the 5:05.

I see your tip from early in year Diamond Diva runs off bottom weight in the last @GG, have you heard anything from Mr Hills?
I spoke to John today Steve. DD is apparently in good form but she has a tough task taking on colts/older horses and quite a lot of imponderables. She could win, but I think she’ll have easier opportunities - stepping up is tough as my horse Shawhill found out when taking on the older colts. I won’t be having a bet on the race.
You are probably right Andrew, but i thought she was impressive last time although against lesser horses and perhaps the turn of foot she has already shown might be handy coming down the outside at Goodwood.
