Mark, i don't think you can claim that your mail was 'spot on' for the following reasons:

1) You said that Marine Boy winning in the style described was a 'dream' - thus implying that it couldn't be a reality.

2) "think ther are far too many ponderables for me to have an investment" - this prediction was tangibly incorrect.

3) I could make a similar 'prediction' about any horse, which would read along the lines of: 'It could win in superb style, and that would be really great, but it could get beaten by another horse and disappoint'. Such a predition would cover about 90% of possible outcomes with the exception of the horse in question winning by a very small margin!

In conclusion, I don't think you should be championing your predictive power when you didn't actually make a clear and accountable prediction!

I see via the entries for the Gimcrack that MB has been given a RP rating of 110 which is 5 higher than Tom's Group 2 winning 6f 2-y-o Classic Blade, MB was also given a speed figure of 94. It would make him the highest rated One Cool Cat in training.

I think he was 'there or thereabouts' ! As lastfiver says, the time was very good despite the fact that Marine Boy was cantering most of the way.

He was spooked by the path which runs across the course after the line and jinked, throwing Richard off. However, both jockey and horse seemed fine afterwards. The lap of honour was well earned.

Bert was waiting at Passport Control as the race was run and I was giving him a commentary. I didn't realise that the line dropped after a furlong so my Peter O'Sullivan style performance was wasted !

Many congratulations Bert. Think that Marine Boy will certainly earn his corn. Couldn't be with a better trainer to give him every chance. Our lad is in the same barn ........ hope MB has a word with him tonight to save another slip up like Nottingham a couple of weeks ago ! JD

Nice amount of daylight! Should be very competitive in the Gimcrack. The time of today's race looked very good against the others and that's without being put under pressure. It would be nice if the G1's here allowed Geldings but a trip overseas would probably be well justified. Well done and good luck.
