James,

I do a lot of research on matings - a day rarely goes by when I don't take some time out to draw up a few pedigrees. I'm interested in in-breeding, and I've spent time reading up on genetics to try and understand that better. I take the view that the general stallion stats published are badly distorted by the quality of mares sent to them and I tend to do my own research.

I'll publish my thoughts in more detail when I find a little time.

Glad to see you are back posting regularly again.
Would be interested to hear how you decided upon the sires for your mares. I have been reading up on breeding and I am not certain stats have been compiled as accurately as you would have expected and those who comment on the subject rely more on gut feelings.
Also what do you think are the best bets for honours in next seasons classics?
