Chocolate rules
Jan 17th, 2009 by Bert
This dark chocolate diet is amazing - I expected results but I didn’t expect them to come so quickly. Yesterday, with my newly supercharged brain, I had what probably ranks as my best betting day ever. My first three bets won at 50-1, 12-1 and 12-1, and I came back at the end of the day for one more large and reckless punt and that came off as well.
To be fair I was following the advice of a friend on a couple of the bets. I’d like to follow up today with another but I’m short of inspiration. I’ve spent a long time going through the 3:10 at Doncaster - I quite like Regal Approach and Armenian Boy is an interesting alternative.
As I write I’m wired up to a heart monitor. My heart became very irregular after a heavy workout on Monday and it hasn’t settled down. My blood pressure fell very low and for a few days I was exhausted just going up the stairs - it’s probably not a big problem but it’s scary. It’s put my thoughts in a whole different perspective, which perhaps is not a bad thing.

Hope your health improves quickly, I have been advised to avoid heavy workouts after flu or heavy colds. You may find this was the cause of your problem.
Can you encourage the friend who has been giving you advice to post it would seem he has good information.
James,
I think you’re right - I had flu fairly recently. I’ll try to get Steve in on the odd day as a feature blogger - he’s a long odds backer on the whole and I don’t think he would want to publish his thoughts too often as it damages the price.
Sorry to hear about the irregular heartbeat. I had a similar experience about a year ago and had a really rapid (and irregular) heartbeat. My GP did a basic ECG and then phoned for an ambulance. I was in dock for about 5 days as they tried medication to regularise things. It worked after four days and I was discharged. I’m now on Warfarin, indefinitely - together with a heart drug, again indefinitely. My problem is called atrial fibrillation, which can be quite scary. Had the medication not worked then the cardiologist said I would have to be given that electric shock treatment - I think it’s a defibrillator. Glad I avoided that! Hope your irregularity soon reverts to normal but you were so right to seek medical help.
Regards, Phil
Andrew, well done on your bets.
As regards the Heart stuff, its patently obvious.
Too much chocolate = Too much caffeine = buggers ya heart, as per all those ‘boost’ caffeine drinks too.
PS I will not charge for this medical advice, first consultation free
Hi Bert, hope your healths better.
Who do you fancy for the Oz Open? Im thinking of betting both Fed and Murray with Del Potro as an outside bet.
I’ve backed Fed & Jankovich to win the Oz Open, doubled them up as well. I can’t believe Fed is being written off.
Scott,
I think Murray is the man. I hear the arguments about Grand Slams etc., but I don’t think they stack up. It won’t affect Murray - maybe Fed and co will play a little better but Murray is the best around on recent form and I don’t think there’s a strong enough reason to oppose him.
