I’m on holiday in Cornwall with the wife and kids at the moment. We’ve been quite lucky with the weather and with no internet access it’s a proper escape.
I was happy with Morana’s run. He was beaten fair and square but it was a top class race and he’ll progress plenty from 2 to 3 and he’ll be suited by a longer trip. Roll on 2010.
Bea Menace won nicely in the evening and she’s turning out to be progressive. We haven’t decided for sure but she probably stays in training in 2010 with the CSH.
Tikka Masala and Cyan Eyed sold in the HIT for £4k and £8.5k respectively. Peintre D’argent ran down the field last night - she has become disappointing and will probably be retired.
Looby Loo ran poorly at Kempton on Wednesday night. She ‘had the choke out’ from the moment she set foot on the course, bolting to the start and not settling during the race - she ran out of petrol with a furlong to go. I don’t think this was entirely unexpected - mentally she’s still a baby and she had a couple of cracks of the whip last time. Hopefully she’ll go better next time.
We bought a couple of older horses in the HIT - one to go for the Chester Cup and another to target sprint handicaps. The HIT is a tough place to get anything. We vetted a long list of horses and the two we got - both from Willie Muir’s yard - were the only two that stood up to our scrutiny. Blue Jack and Nemo Spirit join the ranks at Manor House.

any news on marine boy today bert
Oops - forgot to mention him. I was really pleased with his run last time - he seems to have grown up a lot this year. I’m hopeful of a result today but I couldn’t truly say I’m confident as his last run was the first one back for a while and he might get hot again today. Fingers crossed.
Had a nice go on the place only market… Polo’s are on me in the morning. Another encouraging run.
Bert, see you are running Theo tomorrow is in he in with a chance?
Theo needs as much rain as he can get - he’d also like a few more furlongs. If it continues to rain then he might have a chance. He’s a very decent animal who we’ve liked from day 1 but he’s still inexperienced and this is his first run over fences.
One positive - he’s a natural chaser and hurdles was never going to be his thing. He may take to fences better than some others.
Promising start over fences, finishing fourth behind some very useful horse. Looks like he needs further though as he was quickly outpaced down the back straight and if Nick can brush up his jumping he could have a decent chance on his next start.
Agree he shaped well and the further they went the better he looked. Think it is a good idea to start them opff over a shorter trip as it learns a horse to jump at a quicker pace. Look forward to him in big staying races over the next 2-3 years.
Is everything okay at your end Bert? You haven’t updated for a long time.
Good to see Swindon Town continue their strong start to the season, you must be very pleased.
Hope to see you at the County Ground soon.
