I had an alert for the horse poppy'n'penny which I picked up at 7am while still half asleep, somehow laid it instead of backing it and by the time I realised later in the morning Hugh Taylor had tipped it in his Attheraces column and it had halved in price. Like a damn fool I let it go becasue of the price it was then at and watched it romp home. What a pillock! Your “Nag Me” frustrations are echoed by my own. I now understand the appeal of ownership. I have a small interest in Vegas Palace that came third in the maiden stakes at Salisbury yesterday. She had a brilliant run and finished ahead of some well bred horses. The feeling was amazing to hear her name over the tannoy. What I loved about her was her attitude, for her first run she was prominent from the start and when she came under pressure stayed on Gamely. This will be the first of many I hope over the years as I have got the bug. Jon Bert,
