If only 'closer' offered some sort of return, Bert (though I noticed that Channon had another favourite turned over in the opener at Redcar).

I would imagine that expectations are fairly low given the form of her Warwick victory, but what are your thoughts ahead of Quaker Parrot's run (or indeed Don't Tell Mary's) in the Hilary Needler tonight? The draw is obviously an imponderable at Beverley - having initially settled on Existentialist I'm seriously considering starting from scratch - so do you foresee the somewhat predictable flurry of withdrawals?

And on a slightly separate note - how did you view the gamble on Monsieur at Huntingdon yesterday? His performance was, utlimately, indicative of a thorough lack of ability and in line with his previous efforts, but even in a weak Huntingdon seller it surely takes a relatively substantial amount of money to move from 25/1 in to 2/1 (in places) - how did things shape on Betfair?

Eqi,
you came closer than I did - serves me right.

James,
I'm not sure PD is built to be a hurdler - the family were generally better on the flat than over hurdles. I'm positive about her flat prospects though - she's still backward and has a lot of growing to do. She could be an improver.

A respectable run from PD, a handicap win should be possible but thought may be a better bet over hurdles in the autumn. like to know your thoughts about pressing on with flat campaign or going easy and waiting for jumps.

Two year old race was fairly hot by my reckoning. First 2 will probably go on to better things.

When I first looked at the opener at Leicester I thought very much the same, Bert, but the words 'Channon trained favourite' quickly put me off! Of the debutants Vanishing Grey stands out, so I may have a little on her for the sake of interest.

Peintre D'Argent also looks worthy of some support at around 14/1.

Best of luck today.
