WH,

I don't often bet in the place markets. On the few occasions I do each year I seem to do well - I use them for horses which I feel confident will run up to their best and don't need any luck in running but may be a little short on ability. The BF place markets are fair and well priced but they are not as strong as the win markets and you'd often be pushed to get a big bet on. With a normal bookmaker the place odds are dependent on the win odds (and other things - the type of race, the number of runners etc.) and you can only bet each-way unless they allow you to take the Tote place odds - with BF it's a totally separate market. The number of places paid out doesn't change with non-runners. I'm not sure what else I can explain.

With Peintre D'Argent - we claimed her because we hope that one day she will make the cut, at least to some level. I've claimed eight horses (seven of them fillies) in the last few years, with varying degrees of success. I've got a good feeling about Peintre D'Argent, but then I am an eternal optimist...

Bert, please could you give me your insight on the betfair place market do you like to use it i know a lot of friends who specialise in it backing 3 and 4 and 5 to 1 shots that they cant see not getting placed and wage big bets at 11/10 10/11 is it a good policy would be amazing you gave your insight my best mate who is a professional gambler and close pals with harry findlay has had 50k on welsh opera in the 4.05v at wolves to get placed at 6/5 ive had a small dable admittedly he choses and picks and may not have a punt for months but he claims he makes good money enough to work from home with % plasmas and his trusty i mac!! thanks if you attempt to explain the place market for me. Also why do you claim bad horses like peintre agent who will never really make the cut??Thanks a million i love your blog and all the insight you give you seem to always say it how it is! Mr Hunter
