Full credit to Sandown for providing a wonderfull family day out for us yesterday... The parking stewards on seeing I had 3 small children in the back of the car suggested I park in the disabled area so I was close to the track crossing. We set up camp by the winners enclosure for a picnic and was visited by a giant cuddly horse who gave my mob colouring etc. They again ushered the kids to the disabled area of the Paddock to view the parade of champions. I then left them in the Creche with two wonderful girls why watched the first couple of races in peace... I went to get them back and they all cried as they were having so much fun.... the girls kindly let them stay longer. Few more races and then I picked them up ( The girls recieved a sizeable tip from me courtesy of Ashkazar!!!!! ) We all took up a quiet spot up the course to watch the horses thunder. My kids are hooked a brilliant example of how racing can attract the next generations. Stand up Sandown and take a bow.

Sandown run a free Creche on saturdays so I reckon I will see if they like that for an hour or so. They loved the couple of times I took them to the Oneway stables so I reckon they will really enjoy seeing the horses today. Its free entry for kids so I reckon the worst that can happen is that if its a total disaster I'll just lose my entry ticket....

Jon - you may not be mad but you are brave. It's going to be heaving there today. You may be better off in the centre of the course with them but be careful of the ambulance that flies round in the infield during races - I took my kids there when they were just a bit older than yours and one ran off and nearly came a cropper.

Hoping you are back home now Bert???

My wife is off shopping in London today so I am going solo with my 5,3 & 2 year old mob. I've decided today they will make their race course debut and are taking them on the short drive to Sandown!!! I must be mad

Bert, on the news it indicated they may get individuals back to Spain and then ship them to the UK. However it sounds as though you are making the most of the situation. Hope Marine Boy goes well.
