An independent view on plan B. Don't, because 5 years down the line you will have realised you haven't started with a quality enough broodmare base. Looks or not, breeding and racing performance will take precedent and 5 years along time to find out. The bloodstock world is suffering from over production. That is assuming you want to be at the quality level there too, the likes of the breeze up quality seen this morning plus. After all that time, effort and money it's the only place to aim/be.

Good Luck for Newbury on Friday, you will hopefully see some quality there.

    Fair question hqo.

Firstly I differentiate between the flat and the jumps. Any horse I buy for the NH I buy for keeps. If I sell it is just because the horse is disappointing, and I'm in it hoping to pick up the odd big race.

My mindset for the flat is different - I work on the basis that every horse I buy I am hoping to sell up at some point in the future. I think I have a great chance of improving Shawhill and selling her on for a lot more than the £17k I paid for her.

There is a plan B which I'm still thinking about - both my recent claims, Shawhill and Baldovina, are fillies. If they develop into good looking types I may decide to keep them and breed from them.

    Good Morning Andrew,

I cant work out the logic from you posting last time about not in ownership to have moderate handicappers and then you buy Shawhill, who will never be anything other than that at best and in doing so pay 14 times her Ascot sales price.

Fridays the day imo, Good Luck.
