Storm ‘n Norman
Jul 19th, 2008 by Bert
I did one thing yesterday that was vaguely clever. I thought Greg Norman was a touch long in the win market - a price of 27 for a guy in outright second felt big even accounting for age and tendency to bottle the big ones. I had £3.5k on at 27 and 28 and put it back in at 24 and 25, hoping to get filled overnight when Australia came online.
I checked the market this morning, and although the price has drifted to 28/29, my lay bets have been filled. I have a nice bet to nothing. I had a bit more on Graeme Storm, but for some reason his price has suddenly contracted. Let’s hope he has a good day. I’ve laid a few of the better players who are off the pace to pay for my Storm bet.

So, you’re allowed to punt on Betfair eh?
When I was in the betting game, from 1956 to 1971, we were not allowed to have a bet unless it was with another firm!
When you say you back Greg for £3.5k at 27 and 28, does this mean you laid out £7k, i.e. £3.5 at 27 and £3.5 at 28? Or was it £1.75k at 27 and £1.75 at 28? I assume it was the former.
Whichever it is, could be a nice little earner with no risk! Great!!
I won over £4,000 yesterday due to a good trebled coming in and COMEA and the Whispering Angel obliging both at good prices.
Thks Ned Sangster for giving the ok for me to lump it singl as well. Not much for you to get excited about Bert but it takes me over £25,000 profit this year…..not bad.
Good luck all and BERT LETS HOPE sCRAPPER FIGHTS AND BULLIES HIS WAY IN FRONT EH !
Philip,
we changed the rules a few years ago - there are rules about betting from work, but I’m on a break now so they don’t apply to me.
Mark,
well done yesterday. Fingers crossed for Scrapper - he’s a long enough price.
Hi Bert,
Good bet on the Golf!
Just to let u know I have a 68 year old mate (they are not all that old) but he’s joining your site next week.
Any chance he’s the oldest customer you have?
Shame you did not let it ride for another 24 hours Bert. But a bet to nothing can’t be bad.
Bert, as an STFC fan please can you and the other directors work together in order to secure Peter Brezovan on a longer contract? He is out of contract next summer and we will loose another “prized asset” for nothing. His agent has already been sounding off so no doubt Brez is being touted to other club. At least if he signs then when the inevitable happens we can get a fee!!
