Today’s bets
Feb 2nd, 2008 by Bert
A quick post today as I have to run off to the game.
I’m a huge fan of Straw Bear, but I won’t be backing him at the short odds. Afsoun is a talented horse who has been out of form for most of the year - he may run a big race and he may not. Straw Bear has had problems of his own in the past - I can’t back him at cramped odds today.
My bet for the day is Wee Robbie in the 3:10 at Sandown. Nick has been targeting this race for the horse for a while and he comes here fit after a nice pipe opener a couple of weeks ago. It’s a tough race but he should give a good account of himself and at a price of around 6 he might be a bit of value.
In the 2:35 I’ll be small each way on Warne’s Way at 20-1. That’s all for me today.
Shepherd’s Warning ran poorly yesterday. I had an email from Mick (who had spoken to Nicky Vaghan) just before the race saying Nicky wasn’t that confident as he thought she might have gone over the top and could be in need of a break - unfortunately I didn’t open it in time and did my dough. She’ll be in the February sales - she’s a decent performer at a modest level and will win more races, but I suspect she’ll sell badly after this run.

Warne’s Way ran a great race to get second place at a really nice price, 20-1 after touching 18-1. Many thanks Andrew. Hope you get some useful help from W.Watchers. A bold move on your part; very bold in amongst all those ladies…
hey bert i think you shoud have more horses with tom dascombe thats my tip for you.
Hopefully we’ll see Straw Bear back to his best at Cheltenham but I very much doubt it now Im affraid
