Horses often remind you that they aren't machines. A 48H round trip or enforced box rest can leave there mark, whether they are 2, 3 or older.
Winker will be back I'm sure. 7 furlongs looks about right as long as it is a strong pace. A mile may just be a few yards to far at the top level IMO but if he was in a G3/Listed a mile might be Okay even slightly further IMO.
MB will come out of it a bit battered and bruised but as the betting suggested he's better than that. He looked to run a bit green. He can win at this level.
Sorry you had a bad betting weekend. Backing your own can always lead to the biggest disappointments both mentally and to the wallet but they can also be the most beneficial. It will all come good :)

My online betting bank took one hell of a beating on Friday and this followed heavy casualties taken by my "cash" betting reserves at Newton Abbot on Tuesday evening.

By Saturday I was reeling to such an extent I left the horses almost alone but in the hope that Winker would respond to 6 furlongs he was my sole bet. A choker all round but we live to fight another day and we can only hope that PCH's string comes back into form and Winker gets his chance to show how good he is.

Sorry to see the horses run dissapointgly. Its so true of the racing game that one weekend you could have such a bad time of things yet some months/years down the line everything clicks into place and the horses can do no wrong.
Makes you appreciate the good times all the more Bert when they do come round!
