Decent Chance
Nov 8th, 2008 by Bert
Just one runner today - Shepherd’s Warning goes in the 8:20 at Wolver tonight. I saw her at the stables a few months ago and I did a real double take - she’s still small but she’s filled out unbelievably well in front and she looked like a different horse. She should win more races. I wouldn’t rule her out today, but Nicky’s aren’t quite firing at the moment and she may need this. I’ll be on small each way.
I’m having two bets this afternoon. The first at Sandown is a great race with a load of promising types. I’m keen on Aux le Bahnn trained by Noel Chance - he’s a classy prospect and he goes on soft ground but he’s clearly had his problems. His preparation was rushed last season and it didn’t work out - I don’t think he ever got going. He’s the type to progress with time and he might be ready to show his best today.
In the 2:10 at Kelso Hello Bud comes out for Nigel Twiston-Davies having moved from David Wintle’s yard last year. He may benefit from the move, he has a talented pilot and he likes a slog in the mud. With the stable in such good form he feels like a solid bet.

Cheers Bert…. glad to hear you had a good trip.
Hello Bud caught my eye also this morning. I have a feeling Ruby may have an outstanding day at wincanton.
Looking forward to going to Toms yard tommorrow with my syndicate and potentially owning my first ever race horse, a big step in ones life!!!!!
Aux le Bahnn = skills
Hello Bud = Double skills!!!!!!
A wonderful DOUBLE Bertie lad!
David England was rather harsh with the whip I thought. He was 15 lengths or more in front over the last but David kept up the pressure with the whip, which many onlookers might think was a tad unnecessary.
Welcome Back Bert!!
Nice double top.
Bert… had a lovely Day at Oneway racing today. I’m happy to report your string are all looking well. Marine Boy was very eyecatching.
Jon,
I’m going down tomorrow - couldn’t make it today. I’m particularly looking forward to seeing my Mr Greeley filly.
Would have been nice to shake your hand for yesterdays tips!!! I think I’ll be taking a share in a captain rio filly that Tom is Syndicating with my friends… will be my first interest in a horse and I can’t wait.
