Hit and hope
Jan 24th, 2009 by Bert
Quality racing today but tough. I’ve been through the various cards and I haven’t found anything that I would consider standout. I’ve decided to follow David Pipe - he’s been in no form this season but he has plenty of good horses in the stable and he’s been getting the odd winner. He has eight runners today around the country. I’ve always found his stable a tough read and often it’s the ones I don’t fancy that win, so I may back all of them and hope.
I had a long chat with Pete Chapple-Hyam in the week - his stable is ticking over nicely at the moment. He has two runners at Lingfield today including Thief of Time, who is part owned by a friend of mine. I think he’ll probably win but he isn’t a backable price at the moment so I may have to pass.
I’m still following James Ewart, and he had another winner during the week. He has runners declared tomorrow, and I’ll have a look for clues on his website tonight - www.jamesewartracing.co.uk. It looks like a beautiful stable up in the Scottish highlands.

James Ewart has these horses entered for tomorrow (Sunday), all at Hexam:
1.15: Sirkeel
1.45 Best Lover
2.15 Classic Cut
2.45 Open de L’Isle
4.15 Little Promise
All ridden by Dougie Costello
Oops … except the last race: Little Promise has F.Davis(3) in the plate.
Another Jamie Ewart runner in this race is Turbo Island Harry Haynes (5) rides this one.
Unfortunately, Hexham has been snowed off this morning.
Bad news Gents…. Hexham off due to snow.
Anyone think its worth laying Punchestown…. I’ve always had my doubts and yesterday was a little found out.
Spooky Mick…. must have been typing the same thing at the same time!!!!
Henderson reckons he has been easy on Punchestowns since the Long Walk and is preparing him specifically for the World Hurdle. With Nicholls very bullish about Big Buck’s and Douman ready to enter the fray, it looks set to be one of the highlights in March.
I think the ground is key to Kasbah Bliss’s claims, Bucks looks good for Nicholls. I’m on Punchestown but wish i has waited for the day now!!!
