A week away and a lot to report.
Effingham came nowhere - the vet has found a small fracture which could be the problem. He’ll be gelded now - should be ok next season.
We’ve had a decent offer for Lord Peter Flint which is subject to a vet’s exam - if he passes he’ll be sold. [...]

I’m still reeling over the Winker news - apart from anything else it was only a gentle piece of work today. I really believe he was a virtual certainty in the Middle Park - Pete certainly thought so and the only threat looked to be Sir Gerry - he would have been a very short price. [...]

Winker made the front page of the Racing Post today as Jeremy went public with our ambitious plans.  Winker is extremely well and we think he’s the best 2yo out there - we’re going to try to win both the Middle Park and the Dewhurst to prove our point, and we’re hoping we can persuade Jim Bolger [...]

Captain Hurricane died of a heart attack this morning on the gallops. He had recently been transferred to Tom Dascombe and was doing his first serious piece of work this morning. He ran a bit flat and the jockey decided to get off and walk him back to the stable - a few minutes later [...]

The summer holidays wind to a close and I’m back at my desk for a while now, which feels pretty good.

Baldovina is declared in a maiden hurdle for David Pipe on Wednesday night. There’s a chance she’ll turn her form around, but I think it’s unlikely.
