Craig,

I was going to post something but these things are so difficult. I'm upset about Maurice as he was fundamentally a good guy who worked hard and was more committed than he was given credit for. I hate short term thinking in anything and I think it is the scourge of modern society - in football in general I think the turnover of managers is way too high.

All of this said I agree with you that Maurice's time had come - I think he is a very capable manager but it wasn't working out for him with us. I wish him well - I hope we can find a good replacement.

Diomed,

the Verglas colt had an accident at the start of the year which put him out for the year. He's well now. I don't now when he'll be out - probably early season next year.

Jon,

I didn't see her. Good to see Tom is in form again.

Bert

It's always sad when someone loses their job but I'm pleased to see the board have acted decisively at Swindon over the last couple of days. Mr Malpas was clearly a hardworking and committed man but, equally clearly, not up to the job.

It's right to look for new leadership (look what has happened at Spurs !) and I hope that the choice will be one of a man with a track record of success at this level. My life-long support continues with renewed enthusiasm !

I see that your Verglas colt in Brian Meehan's hasn't been named yet. Is he still in training?

Hi Bert,

Only stumbled across you blog recently but am really enjoying it.
I think Ashkazar will be a force to be reckoned with this season, I know David Pipe has given the horse a favourable mention in a interviews on more than one occassion. I get the feeling the stable might hit top gear this weekend.

Bert I've taken a share in the Captain Rio Filly with Tom... did you happen to take a look at her? Had a nice little bet on Plush today which won nicely.... mainly because the lovely stable girl moved the horses mouth to make out it was talking which my little girl found really funny. Think Plush is Tikka Massala's neighbour also!!!!
