Three of diamonds
Mar 29th, 2008 by Bert
Good news from the courts - I had my ban reduced from 6 months to 6 weeks. There is a downside - all of the points stay on my licence, which means I’ll have 10 points until December 2009. Still better than a poke in the eye, and it shows that it’s worth appealing these things.
Good racing today - I like it when the flat and the jumps overlap. There’s always a lot of buzz this time of the year as the flat season settles in, there’s plenty I’ll be looking at today.
Brian runs Diamond Tycoon at Kempton, and he’s fit and well. He was a class act before he went wrong and is, IMO, one to back today. The racing manager at Betfair informs me that a mate of his called Legless Lenny says Scarvagh Diamond will win at Newbury - separately my jumps man thinks she has the right form. In the bumper at Newbury a couple of my Timeform mates like Diamond Harry.
So there you have it - an absolutely diamond treble. There are some bets that a man just has to have, and this is one of them.
Elsewhere Pete is keen on both of his at Doncaster, but they are short prices. I like Soapy Danger who I had noticed entered up elsewhere but prefers this listed fare. Zomerlust I like on this ground and the stable is in form. Arctic Magic in the 3.25 at Newbury could be a decent plot horse and is my jumps man’s nap.
Bet of the day though is Finsceal Beo in Dubai. I’ve heard there’s confidence behind her and she’s a serious prospect if right.

I have let gambling ruin my life and the life of the people i love for twenty five years, to the point that i despair at how it has made me feel. It has taken me till i am 43 years of age to be so exhausted by this emotional turmoil it has caused.
I now need to move on and put the past behind me. Would you consider taking an hour of your valuable time and meet with me to listen to my story and consider the possibility of helping me turn my life around.
I want to make my family proud of me for a change. It is impossible to explain in writing. I hope that you will find it in your heart to give me a chance to meet with you and explain why i desperately want my life back.
It took a lot to bear my soul on this open forum, but it will be worth it if it is the start of a new life for me.
I will leave it there Andrew.
God Bless
Stephen
Hey Bert
Nice to hear the news. Must have been terrible for you having to be chauffer driven these past few weeks.
;=)
Good luck today with Hope Road, I’m on as a keen follower of Mr Dascombe at the moment. I’m hoping to take an ownership with Tom in the next few weeks. My best mate has previously owned ask don’t tell and secret finisher with Tom.
May bump into you one day watching our animals training. Keep us posted on Max one two three…. I have high hopes that this could land Tom his first classic!!!!!
Scruffy Looking Computer Geek, come on, tell us, put us out of our misery, we have waited months……..
did your idea work?
Well, the man from del Monte, he said it may work, but not by Betfair. Can’t say much more than that, at the moment.
Other than that it was both fun & a privilege to bang heads with another scruffy looking computer geek whose brilliant idea worked.
My most memorable moment of the day was the following quote from Bert after the meeting. This followed a discussion about a tip gone wrong…
Bert: I lost a fortune on that horse.
SLCG: How much was that then?
Bert: 3K
Still makes me chuckle today!
By my calculations, he would have to do absolutely nothing for less than 6 hours to make that back.
;=)
I still visit the blog about once a week. Even though I have no interest in horses whatsoever, every once in a while Bert comes out with a comment or 2 that reminds me of that day & makes me chuckle to the point I can’t resist posting.
