Nicky Bea and Betty

Well enough of all this financial meltdown chit chat and on to the important things in life.  Three runners today – Nicky Nutjob and Bet Noir go at Ponty and Bea Menace goes at Warwick.

Nicky is a perfectly decent racehorse but I don’t think he’ll make up into much of a 2 year old.  He’ll run respectably today though and the longer trip and softer ground should help him.

Bet Noir was disappointing last time, but has potential and will win one day.  She should have a respectable chance today.

Bea Menace is currently favourite in the 3:20 at Warwick and I would fancy her quite strongly but I’m worried about the ground – she may handle it but we’re not sure.  She needed the run last time and she’ll be a lot fitter this time – I see she’s on the drift, showing 11/4 as I write.  I think she’s backable at this sort of price, although with luck she’ll drift further.

Lilac Moon had a nice update to her page when Lady Marian won a group 1 yesterday – their mothers are full sisters.  I’m still chewing on the best way forward with LM – I’d like to bring her into production as a broodmare, but despite Lady Marian her page is still light.  A hatrick of wins is nice, but they were low grade handicaps – she needs to score at a higher level to shore up her page.  I’d like to send her to Nayef who is the sire of Lady Marian, but as things stand Shadwell are unlikely to accept her – we need to aim her higher if we are to make the point, so I may bring her back for next year.
