A horse of authority

With Haydock off Shawhill misses her chance today, but the race is rescheduled for Wednesday at Newmarket.  I don’t think we’ll go for it now – it was always a big ask trying to win a group 2, and there’s a Listed race at Longchamp on Saturday that looks more suitable.  It’s a 3yo fillies race over 12f – we’d rather be running against our own sex and age group, but in the UK all the listed fillies races from here on in are 3yo and up.

Winker is declared for Thursday and will probably go.  It could be quite a strong race with a lot of the principals from the Norfolk and the Coventry in opposition – Henrythenavigator is not entered.  On the same day Captain Hurricane is entered in the last and may take part.  I won’t have any other 2yos going as neither Lord Snooty nor Bouguereau were ready in time.

Baldovina will run at Bath on monday – she’s got loads of ability but her very poor run last time needs explaining and it may be that she’s not going to do it on the track.  Fingers crossed.

I think Authorized will win today in a canter – I’m not concerned about facts about poor performances of Derby winners in the Eclipse etc.  I think he’ll turn out to be one of the best horses of all time – if he runs his race I don’t believe there is a horse anywhere that could give him 11lb.  I also think Reverence should be backed in the first – he has his conditions and has proven himself on the track.  At Beverley I may give another chance to Crimson Monarch.
