Betting update

I advised Angel Rock in the first last night – I’m hearing that he is a decent animal but will probably need the run, explaining the long price.  Probably but not definitely – he could still be value for a place.  I’m also hearing that there is considerable confidence behind Rochfort, and with Gosden’s 2yos going well this year he may be the one to be on, although I’m wondering why he isn’t entered up anywhere.

In the second I’ve heard strong words for both Royal Confidence and Sophie’s Girl.  This is reflected in the betting – they are second and third favourite to Crystany now.  I’ll probably stick with my original selection.

In the 4:55 I note that Heaven Knows is a drifter, which is a slight concern.  I still like it as a bet, in fact having slept on it I like it more.

The Seb Sanders ride that most appeals to me is Blues in the Night.  His other two rides at Haydock look a bit like spare rides and he may have gone there to ride this one, which is a positive for the horse.  He’s a course winner, and I think this carries a lot of weight at Haydock which is a galloping track – his only win was on G/F which he has today.
