Master of origami

The sales have been disappointing to date. The one yearling I put up to sell, my Byron out of Veiled Beauty, did not make her reserve and I got her back. I got a few people to look at her – one of her feet turns in a little, and this was the main objection, but also she has been through a growth spurt and is up behind (i.e. her back legs have grown but her front legs haven’t caught up yet). I’m happy to keep her as I think she’ll work out – she moves nicely enough and it’s a good family. The market isn’t willing to pay up for anything that isn’t perfect at the moment.

I bought one filly in book 1 – a Selkirk out of a mare called Rose of Petra. She stands tall and she’s not the most feminine looking, but she looks like she will have a decent stride when she fills out. I will bid on another today.

I had some interesting emails this morning. One, from Genes Reunited, has the subject line ; “Andrew, find your Black relations in our new birth records”. My sister has emailed to ask why my Wikipedia page lists me as a master of origami.

Friday is a big day – Whey Sauce makes her debut at Newmarket and Bouguereau comes out on the same card. Whey Sauce is a big grey filly that I bought in Japan – she is working out extremely well. Bougie I hope will run a race of some description – if he doesn’t then I suspect I will retire him.
