On the rob

The runners are coming in thick and fast now, with good and bad results. Van Go Go won her claimer but was claimed by Paul Dixon. I spoke to Paul later and bought back a leg – I doubt she will be a champion but she’s improving and is uncomplicated and should win more races – she’s also my first homebred to run. Gin Twist ran at Windsor and was listless and disappointing. I can only hope that that is not her running.

Today I ran Whey Sauce in the Musidora – it was a big ask, particularly given that it was her first run of the year> A win seemed unlikely and we stressed to the jockey that if and when beaten we should do what we could to get a place. She was going great guns with three furlongs to go, but she started to tie up. Mitchell allowed her to drop back and rushed her up at the end to nick third place and a bit of black type – a fine piece of burglary.

Tomorrow Blue Jack goes in the sprint, and I give him an excellent chance. He had a lot of trouble at Chester and finished full of running – he should be better for that. He’s big enough to shoulder top weight and Tom thinks he might be better this year as we had a lot of foot problems with him last year and this year they have been a lot better. He’s won of higher marks than today. In the Dante I like Carlton House – the vibes around this horse are strong.
