The Ebor meeting

I’m off to Malta tomorrow on Betfair business and I’ll miss most of the Ebor meeting.  I’ve pored through the card tomorrow looking for value, but I can’t find anything at big odds that interests me – there are of course some serious races being run.

The Juddmonte comes top of the list, and Pete was extremely positive over the weekend on Authorized.  I think the world of the horse and I’ll be backing it – it’s just a question of bet size.  My one concern is the trip – he may be a better horse over 12f and if they go no pace early as they did in the Eclipse I’m worried he could get caught out.  He won’t be a max bet.

Tajdeef runs in the Acomb, and he made a massive impression on me last time – he’s sure to be in the shake up.  Unfortunately I’m not the only one who spotted him – he’s favourite in what may be a very hot race.  I doubt I’ll have a bet.

In the nursery Oasis Wind is favourite in the early tissues.  He was as impressive as he could be last time and with his talented jockey taking off a further 5lb he has every right to be favourite.  Paul Cole and his team are in great form, and the last time he had a runner in this race (Blue Tomato in 2003) he went off favourite and won it.  He may have the wrong draw and that could seriously damage his chances – I’ll leave it to late on to decide if I want a bet.
