Hennessy

A great day’s racing and a runner in the Hennessy meet in the shape of Mon Michel.  MM’s flat form suggests he likes soft ground, but he’s changed as he’s grown up and he prefers it better now – it could be a little on the soft side for him, but it’s a nice day and he’s in the last race so it could be ok.  On goodish ground I give him an excellent chance – we think he’s a lot better with a low weight than a big weight.  If the ground is on the soft side then I may prefer the claims of Signs of Love, who made a big impression on me when he beat Mon Michel last year.

It feels like a day to be watching rather than betting and I won’t be getting involved in anything too heavily.  I give Santsaire a chance in the 1:35.  The Hennessey looks excellent and of the many with chances I’ll side with Snowy Morning.  Katchit comes out in the Fighting Fifth at Newcastle – I’d rather be with him than against him.  In the Long Distance hurdle the ground will be key and the best option may be Inglis Drever.

Lilac Moon ran well again on Monday without winning.  Her rating is on the up – hopefully we’ll get a win out of her at some point.
