Ladbroke

I was hoping to be at Ascot today cheering Mon Michel on in the Ladbroke, but it wasn’t to be.  It’s a shame as I’d have given him a real chance – everything would have been in his favour.  Gary has two other entries, including Altilhar which I’ve backed.

I spoke to Gary about him yesterday – he loves the horse and says he’s in great form but he thinks he has a lot of weight and it’s going to be tough winning a race like this off 11-10, particularly as a 4yo.  Against this he is only days away from being a 5yo, and he’s a strong type who should have no problem shouldering the weight, he’s won at Ascot before (beating Mon Michel),  and G/F ground should be a positive.  Top weights did well at Ascot yesterday.  I think he’ll run a great race and I’m backing him win and place – probably my only bet of the day.  I’ve heard good words for others, including the “steamer” Jack the Giant, but I’m sticking with the one bet.
