Skid to make his mark

Skid Solo comes out today trying to break his duck in the first at Wolver.  We thought a lot of him at the start of the season but he’s been disappointing thus far.  To be fair most of Pete’s 2yos that have come out have been disappointing this year, but he had a nice winner yesterday and maybe things are coming right now.

We stuck Skid in a Wolverhampton maiden expecting a nice easy opportunity for him, but he’s up against a favourite who’s run in two group races and another group entered horse.  He’s had a break and he’s going nicely on the gallops – he should run very well.

Winker is extremely well and is crying out for a race, but the weather may make life difficult.  With luck we’ll get a race into him at the end of this week, either at Newbury in the Hungerford or in France.  Lilac Moon probably runs at Salisbury towards the end of the week, and the ground there seems to be holding up well.  Max One Two Three is looking at a race at York in a couple of weeks – Marine Boy is still targeting the Gimcrack, although I may not be able to go as it clashes with a Betfair board meeting.

I’ve made a few purchases lately.  At Fasig-Tipton I bought a yearling filly by Mr. Greeley out of My Reem – a very nice looker and I paid $500k.  I’m just completing the purchase of three filly foals from Japan.  Deep Impact ex Muncie(France), Deep Impact ex. Lhiz (Chile) and Kurufone x Histoire.  At the other end of the scale I tried to claim Fantasy Parkes at Redcar yesterday with no luck.

Tina Cook, riding for the GB team at the Olympics, is Nick Gifford’s sister.  She’s going well and I’ll be cheering her on.

Swindon got off to a nice start on Saturday.  Let’s hope it continues.
