The joy of six

Timeform rated Bouguereau‘s run 107 whereas the Racing Post went 105.  Either way he rates good enough to have a go at the Italian Derby.  They’ve moved the race forward this year (May 11) which is good for us, but they’ve dropped the distance from 2400 to 2200 metres which is not so good.  Prize money is currently 1 million Euros, which is a great pot to shoot at.  Bring it on…

A big day for Swindon on Saturday with a 6-0 win against Port Vale, and six different players on the score sheet – that must be a rarity.  Jeremy told me a couple of weeks ago that it was really coming together on the training pitch and that that would translate into results – maybe he was right.  Port Vale are stragglers in the league so maybe it would be wrong to attach too much to the victory, but any 6-0 win is to be savoured.

I’m interested in Heritage Coast in the last at Windsor.  Cape Colony of Hannon’s is a warm order trading at around 2-1 – the money came for him last time and no doubt there is plenty in the coffers for another punt tonight.  Heritage Coast is owned by Khalid Abdulla – if you had backed every runner of his over the past 5 years at SP (over 1,000 runs) you would have made money.  His horses are campaigned carefully and sympathetically, they are not overraced and they are rarely heavily backed.  Heritage Coast comes from a family that typically do well from 2 to 3.  I would struggle to have her behind Cape Colony (or anything else in the race) in the betting but force of money has her there.  I feel a punt coming on.
