It was a truly depressing day today. Nick Gifford rang late on with three pieces of bad news.
Killaghy Castle had a fatal fall at Sandown. He was a lovely horse and a great prospect and I was very sad to hear this news.
Theophrastus is injured and is a highly unlikely runner for tomorrow. It’s been one injury after another with him – he’s a seven year old now and he’s yet to see a racecourse. It’s been extremely frustrating.
Big Paddy has got colic and he had to be rushed to the vet. They may have to operate – if they do the operation has a very high mortality rate (around 50%). We have our fingers crossed.
I’ll be at Fontwell tomorrow to watch Latin America run, but it won’t be the day out I was hoping for. Racing can be a tough game.
